About Rutgers-Camden

Rutgers - Camden is a state-funded, coeducational, public, research university in Camden, which is a city in the US state of New Jersey, serving as the county seat of Camden County, with a population of nearly 80 000 inhabitants, according to the 2000 census.

The university was chartered in 1766, in New Brunswick, as Queen's College, the nation's eighth institution of higher learning, and it is one of only nine colonial colleges established before the American Revolution. It was renamed in 1825 to honor trustee and Revolutionary War veteran Colonel Henry Rutgers, and, in 1945, it was declared the state university of New Jersey by an act of the state legislature.

Rutgers offers its students, today, various educational programs in numerous fields of study, boasting the nation's first doctoral program in childhood studies, a new state-of-the-art, law-school facility, and a comprehensive four-year undergraduate business curriculum.
